When you checked out my yearlist of full-length albums that were released in 2014 you will find a lot of amazing albums, but it didn’t contain one of, or maybe my ultimate, favorite records I purchased that year, simply because it was released three years earlier! That’s right, 2011, and I am talking about The Headliners’ debut, and so far only, full-length album “Too Young To Fall In Love”. Since I am becoming an old fart, I decided to give this album some love on this page, even if it’s 2015 by now!

 

“We just want to have our fun…” is what this pack from Nantes is singing in their band’s anthem “We Are The Headliners” and that is definitely something you hear back and forth throughout the whole album. It sounds (or at least it appears to be) like these guys really enjoy playing these eleven (ten if you don’t count the “The City Is Dead Intro”) songs that are packed with energy that instantly reflects on you, the listener, making it almost impossible to turn these incredibly catchy and melodic punkrock tunes off!

 

Just listen to songs like the title track “Too Young To Fall In Love” or their cover of The Fast Cars’ “The Kids Just Wanna Dance”, my two absolute favorites, to hear what I mean. But with that being said I directly be skimming songs like the opener “Right Place / Wrong Time”, “So Bored By Now”, “Score In A Rig”, “We Are The Headliners”, “In The City” or “The Way I Behave” with its crazy piano at the end, there is simply, but most important honestly, not a single bad track on this album! It’s all killer from beginning to end with each and every song immediately being stuck for the rest of your day, heck maybe your life!

 

If you haven’t checked out this album yet I strongly suggest you do if you like your punkrock pumped up with Oi! and power pop influences. You will not be disappointed by this ultra-addictive record that can go hand in hand with all the French classics despite being totally sung in English!
