The High Stride – S/T EP
Crossbar Records
Straight out of Brooklyn comes The High Stride, a brand new power unit with former members of other New York (City) favorites such as 45 Adapters, Guns Don’t Run and Weekend Bowlers! The band recently released its debut 45 on Crossbar Records and it’s a surprising gem to say the least!
Because despite that The High Stride’s members previously earned their stripes in the punk and Oi! scene, this 7” takes you straight back to the bossy sounds of the 60’s! Loaded with three soulful and hard-hitting stompers, the quintet delivers an electrifying mix of mod, soul, rock ‘n’ roll and sure, maybe even some traces of Oi!, for some self-proclaimed maximum rock’n soul and they do so with power and style!
Over before you know it, the New Yorkers bust out some catchy earworms with “Something To Explain”, “The Spoil” and “Souls On Fire”! Brought with a tremendous amount of energy, great hooks and even better use of an organ, this is a fun little record that I kept flipping over and over again before I caved in and surrendered to Spotify! Something you’ll undoubtedly do to if you’re into the likes of 45 Adapters and Duffy’s Cut – and who isn’t!?
Available on either black (300 copies) or blue (200 copies) vinyl, each vinyl color comes with it’s own colored sleeve and all copies include a single-sided insert. Anyway, a little different from the usual noise I review on this page, but a scorcher nonetheless!
