I think I don’t have to tell anyone who reads this that “A Way Of Life – Skinhead Anthems” (1982) by The Last Resort is a fuckin’ classic. The revival albums “Resurrection” (2005) and “You’ll Never Take Us – Skinhead Anthems II” (2009) from last decade just didn’t quite do it for me and are collecting dust around here, while “A Way Of Life” still gets played from time to time here.

With that being said I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when I grabbed The Last Resort’s latest album “This Is My England – Skinhead Anthems III” out of my mailbox earlier this week. Did the band manage to produce another classic record or will the band’s fourth full-length album (over a timespan of over 30 years) be collecting dust again just like their earlier attempts this millenium?

After listening to “This Is My England” over and over again I can tell you it’s really neither of the above mentioned options. No, this is not another The Last Resort classic and no, this album will not be collecting dust any time soon. What you get is some good old, solid Brittish Oi! music from the Resort Bootboys that defineteley holds some of the band’s best work since their revival. Great mid-tempo Oi! sing-a-longs the band has been known for since the early 80’s with a 2013 production is the best way to describe “This Is My England” in my book which isn’t a bad thing… at all.

“This Is My England” is an easy pick up for any fan of The Last Resort. If you either like the band’s old or more “recent” releases you won’t be dissapointed. I’ll be honest, I didn’t think The Last Resort still had it in them, but they proved me wrong and I am glad they did!
