Vinyl 4 Bootboys is a new label, well sort of. Altough not a sublabel, Vinyl 4 Bootboys is started by Michal who also runs 4Subculture Records. And while most 4Subculture releases are CD’s Vinyl 4 Bootboys main focus will be on… yes, vinyl. Just this week the label had it’s first release which is a brand new EP by The Pillage.

The Pillage you might remember from the album “We Bear Arms” or the compilations American Defense Records did in the mid to late 00’s and in all honesty, I thought these guys weren’t around anymore. But I thought wrong and in the year 2013 the band is still alive and kicking with living proof in the form of the EP “Until I Hang” which contains five new recordings of the band.

With four brand new songs and a cover (“Bloody Attack”, originally by The Bloody Sods) the band basicly picks up where they left off in 2009 with the full-length “We Bear Arms”. Heavy rock ‘n’ roll influenced Oi! music while half of the lyrics have a fun undertone. A song with the title “Big Bottom Broads” doesn’t need an explanation but also phrases in “Pillage Theme” like “We hate che guevara and his entire life, but we praise Jim Bowie and his colossal knife” made me chuckle.

There have been better EP’s released this year, no doubt about it, but “Until I Hang” is still a fun 7” record to listen to. Support new, small, upcoming labels and get this EP if you get the chance! And to The Pillage I would like to say, welcome back!
