The Prowlers / Rude Pride – Split EP (ISS 003)
Insurgence Records
Recently I reviewed both volume one and two of Insurgence Records’ Inflame Singles Series and now – after a short break, reviewing some other releases in between – it’s time for a review on the latest 7” in this series, a split between the Canadians of The Prowlers and the Madrilenians of Rude Pride!
First up are The Prowlers. Delivering hard-hitting Oi! for over two decades now, the majority of their releases came out in the past 10 years, including the excellent 10” “On The Run” and the killer EP “Serial Pousseur” – which was completely in French. Now the boys are back with “Loonies Days”, a barbaric sing-along that directly hits like a bomb and a cover of reggae artist Rudy Mills’ “ John Jones” – completely done in The Prowlers own style of course! Love it.
On the flipside you’ll find Rude Pride with a similar construction of their contribution to Inflame Singles Series by providing a new track and a cover. If you are familiar with Rude Pride’s previous releases – quite some, despite being formed only five/six years ago – you might have guessed already that their sound isn’t as tough as it is of the band they are sharing this slab of wax with, yet “The Hate In Me” and The Maytals’ “Just Tell Me” hold up though.
All in all another good edition of Insurgence Records’ Inflame Singles Series – now bring on number four!
