The Prowlers / Thunder And Glory - Beuverie & Barbarie

Contra Records / Baldy Sound Records

One of Contra Records’ - and Baldy Sound Records’ - latest split EP’s is one between Canada and The United States Of America, between beuverie and barbarie and - indeed, between The Prowlers and Thunder And Glory! Now with that being said, this review was part of my backlog for a while already, so let’s get this write-up going!

First up are The Prowlers, a busy bunch indeed! Unlike the band’s first decade, their latest decade active as a band they nearly release one or two records a year - and it’s never getting old! On this split the Canadians unleash another two brand new, unreleased tracks - namely “Friends By Default” and “We’ll Take The Blame” - and as always their game is strong, solid and boisterous! Maybe a full-length next? You know it’s been a while...

The most anticipated side for me was Thunder And Glory’s though. Not that I don’t like The Prowlers - the contrary, but unlike their Northern neighbors, the vikings from Philadelphia just don’t release as much. But what Greg Boil and company release is always gold and the two new, barbaric scorchers they deliver - in the form of “Spit In The Faces” and “Viking Victory” - are no exception!

Released on black vinyl (300 copies) and yellow vinyl with red and blue splatter (200 copies), the 7” is housed in a sleeve featuring some killer (colored) artwork by Nickxtacm - an absolute must! My only question now that this record is out though, is when the fuck that split EP between Thunder And Glory and The Upset is going to be released? Meanwhile get this one though...
