The Skinflicks – Luxembourg’s Most Hated 20-Year-Anniversary Anthology 1997 – 2017

Trisol

Luxembourg’s most beloved and to this date only Oi! band – The Skinflicks – are back! Well, unfortunately not really, but since it has been twenty years since the band formed, Trisol (which has also been the home of vocalist Jérôme Reuter’s neo-folk outfit Rome since 2009) thought it was a good idea to release an anthology, featuring sixteen skinhead scorchers from the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg!

Despite that “Luxembourg’s Most Hated” doesn’t deliver anything new, I concur the idea of this compilation – simply because The Skinflicks were one of the best bands of their time, a classic outfit indeed! But still, the mini-album “Steel-Toe Anthems” was never released on vinyl, making a song like “Smash The Love Parade” appear on LP for the very first time – so for vinyl fetishes there is something new after all!

Other than that, “Luxembourg’s Most Hated” includes all the anthems from the two full-length albums “Lies, Damned Lies & Skinhead Stories” and “Beyond Good And Evil”. Immediately opening with the ultimate anthem “What I Am” the tone has been set for the rest of this anthology, with one sing-along after another, including “I Hate Hippies”, “Do Or Be Done”, “Media”, “Terrace Terror”, “Gods And Laws”, “The Pride Of Our Scene”, “Lionhearts” and “Skinhead”, just to name a few!

Besides the brutal tunes, the whole package is noteworthy as well. Made in Germany, the LP comes on thick, 180 grams of white vinyl and includes the CD-version (not available separately) of this killer anthology, just in case you want certain songs (or the whole compilation for that matter) on repeat for the rest of the day! Must-have!
