The Struggle - Endless

Pirates Press Records / Contra Records

UK’s The Struggle originally started as a little project on the side. Featuring members from celebrated outfits such as Geoffrey Oi!cot, Gimp Fist, Crashed Out and the almighty Major Accident, the band debuted two years ago (2015) with their ode to one of Berlin’s finest establishments – Core Tex! By the looks (and sound) of it, it does look like The Struggle has surpassed the ‘side-project phase’, as the Brits just released their full-length debut album “Endless” for Pirates Press –and Contra Records!

As I wrote in my review of the “Core Tex Selector” single, I loved the diversity of the two tracks on that 45. It also made it tough to figure out what direction The Struggle would head to if it ever came down to another release, but if you heard “Endless” for the first time it is directly clear – they kept the same diversity, but managed to transform it into a full-length album!

You have those fun, melodic, sing-alongs, while the next track can be a fast-paced attack that will show you all corners of the room. Personally I prefer the more mid-tempo, often melodic scorchers like “Break Out”, “Want A War”, “Starting Out”, “Our Time” and “Different Name” where they sound firm and powerful, somewhat like a British version of Bonecrusher, but the faster songs deliver in a nice variation in the band’s sound – while sounding like a whole altogether throughout the album.

If you liked 2015’s single, you will love “Endless” as well. No doubt about it. Also if you are in the other bands of these lads, especially Gimp Fist and Crashed Out, you will have a good time listening to The Struggle’s debut album. So what are you waiting for?
