The Transitions - Dark Times

Rebellion Records / Rebel Sound

When you like Marching Orders it’s easy to like RazorCut as well, mainly because both operate in the same genre. Especially since last year’s “Battles” EP and this year’s full-length album “Rise Again” the bands, both ‘leaded’ by the charismatic frontman Al White,  are pretty much on the same level of greatness if you ask me.

The Transitions, Al’s third band which was formed in 2013, is a whole different ballgame when it comes down to sound and style. If you ever wonder how Warsaw and Joy Division would have sound with Mr. White on vocal duty, then The Transitions’ debut full-length “Dark Times” might just be the answer!

Personally I love the gloom, melancholic post-punk The Transitions produce. The music is somewhat monotone, but also dark, dreamy, extremely catchy and hypnotic at the same time. Fans of Joy Division, The Damned, Fliehende Stürme or TSOL will absolutely get some cold chills from gems like “Dead Friend”, “Sky Is Falling”, “Caught In A Web”, the title-track “Dark Times” or my personal favorite, the magnificent “The Call”, that are captured in the grooves of this record.

A record that I can’t get enough from! Because despite that The Transitions is a total different band from Marching Orders and RazorCut, which could be a reason why you won’t be into them, Al’s significant vocals remain the same. So if you are a fan of his style then you should definitely give “Dark Times” a chance, his vocals will lurk you in and the hypnotizing sound will do the rest!
