The Young Ones – Cream Of The Crop

Contra Records / LSM Vinyl

After the “Our Nose In Their Business” EP (2017) and the “Greatest Hits Vol. II” 10” (2018), “Cream Of The Crop” is already the third release since The Young Ones’ resurrection in 2016! Now the boys from the city of 043 were already a productive band the first time around, but it’s great to see they can still keep up the pace now that these lads aren’t so young anymore. Especially when they keep releasing new records like this one!

Because alike its predecessor, “Cream Of The Crop” is once again filled with anthemic chartbusters fans of classic Oi! or the ‘real punk’ will love! This time released on 12” vinyl, the lads from M-town crank out seven new hits that will have you singing along in no-time! Because despite that The Young Ones mimic the sound out of the East End of London (yes, the Cockney Rejects are still influence number one), they always sound fresh, fun, exciting and manage to top their previous effort!

Title-track “Cream Of The Crop”, “City 043”, “On The Chin”, “The Jive!”, “B&G”, “Take It From Us” and “Bobby’s Guns” – there simply isn’t a bad song on this slab of wax! With their rowdy and boisterous sound every single second of this record seems to be produced to give you a good time, making sure the minutes fly by! Unfortunately there’s only around 22 of those pressed on this record, making you long for the band’s second full-length even more. Killer stuff indeed!

Released on either bone colored vinyl (100 copies), gold vinyl with black splatter (100 copies) and some good old black vinyl (300 copies), “Cream Of The Crop” is once again a must for those who love that classic sound and once again only released on vinyl – though I can imagine Contra Records will be releasing a compilation CD of “Our Nose In Their Business”, “Greatest Hits Vol. II” and “Cream Of The Crop” someday soon. The Young Ones rule, ok?!
