Trouble? / Stokes CPH – Split EP
Randale Records
You don’t hear much about Oi! bands from Denmark, now do you? Sure, there are some, but when you put a split EP of two Danish bands together – like Trouble? and Stokes CPH – you nearly have half of the active bands in the country on a single 7”! So consider this a small scene report…
First up is Trouble? from Copenhagen, a relatively new band – though formed nearly three years ago – who make their ‘official’ debut on this split EP. Personally I’d rather debut with a demo or a single of my own, but then again, it would have been silly to have said no against this offer. I do hope these troublemakers will have a release of their own soon though, because the two tracks on here – “Blood & Beer” and “Tonight” – definitely taste like more with their mid-paced, dangerous sound and burly, aggro vocals. Very British, very mean – I like it!
On the flipside you’ll find Stokes CPH from – indeed, CPH aka Copenhagen. This band already has a 10” and a LP under their belt-buckled belts, so a (split) EP is a more logical step for them. Providing two brand new songs, namely “Take No Prisoners” and “Shut It”, this band produces an interesting, yet very energetic sound – the band plays with an upright bass in case you missed it – that will have you wreckin’ and singing along at the same time! Good stuff!
Get this record, it’s filled with good, raucous music and the classic, black and white artwork tops it off – you won’t be disappointed! Comes on limited black (200 copies) -and blue (I assume 300, but maybe 700) vinyl.
