One of my favorite, newer American Oi! bands is undoubtedly Ultra Sect! This Californian outfit instantly made an impact with 2018’s debut EP “War Of The Roses” and continued their glorious crusade with sophomore EP “Final Conquest” and a massive split EP with Vis Vires in respectively 2019 and 2020. Now, two years after the latter, the band is back with their first 12” release, which is literally bigger and better than ever before!

 

Released by Contra Records (Europe) and the band’s own Turn Up The Oi! Records (USA), “Echoes From The Past” is the band’s first ever mini-LP and it’s a total fuckin’ hammer from start to finish! If you thought the band’s previous work was impressive already then wait until you get a hold on this 12”, because these six songs will knock you straight out of your working boots!

 

Cracking out one hard-hitting anthem after another, Ultra Sect’s “Echoes From The Past” is nothing short of sheer power, massive choruses and superb melodies! In combination with a massive wall of sound, I would even dare to say that this is a near perfect record! Delivering pure fire from the front to the back, “Public Enemy”, “Ride The Storm”, “Lead Us To Glory”, “Nation On Fire”, “No Allegiance” and “Bread And Roses” are definitely the band’s best work to date, making this 12” an absolute must-have for you, the reader of this page!

 

But luckily most of you are aware already, because the first press (which was released earlier this year) is nearly sold out already! But for those who still have to give this band a go – which I highly suggest obviously – a second press is coming soon, making this review fashionably late – but relevant nonetheless! So turn up the volume, turn up the Oi! and listen to Ultra Sect!
