Unite Against Society – The Early Years 1997 – 2007

8Up Records

The boys from Herentals, Belgium are back! Well, not directly with this CD – as it is a compilation of the band’s previous shenanigans, but Unite Against Society has some new work in the pipeline and some of it is even recorded already! Therefor “The Early Years 1997 – 2007” is a good warm-up for things to come, thanks to 8Up Records!

In the ten year span that this release focusses on, the Belgians released three full-lengths, two on their own – “Oi! Loud, Fast & Proud” (CD, 1997) and “Our Way” (CD, 2007), while “Loved By Few...” was released by the legendary Helen Of Oi! on both CD (2001) and LP (2003). For this compilation the lads took five to six songs off each record, giving this CD a grand track-list of 16 tracks total.

Now despite that my old band played a handful of shows with Unite Against Society, I have to admit that I couldn’t find any release of them in my personal collection. Only God knows why, because listening to these songs – especially the ones that were taken off the last two albums, I still love them to this day! Tracks like “Feared By All”, “Our Way”, “Working Class”, “Bastard”, “Boozeball”, “Guns, Bats & Flick Knives” and “Joy Of Oi!” are still killing it, while the older, somewhat more primitive tracks like “Clockwork Army” and “Pride” still rip it up as well!

Sold relatively cheap, this compilation is a great way to get to know the resurrected Unite Against Society – or just to complete your collection of course. Because it’s relatively cheap, don’t expect too much from the packaging, as there is no booklet for example. A more than decent compilation nonetheless!
