Five years after the last – the fifth – “Oi! This Is Streetpunk!” compilation by Longshot Music and Pirates Press Records, the series is back! Bigger and stronger than ever before, 2020’s edition of the compilation series features a grand total of 20 bands and tracks from all over the world, spread over two 10” records!
Unlike the five previous samplers in the series, a very big portion of the tracks on “Oi! This Is Streetpunk! 2020” are new, or previously unreleased songs with the exception of – and correct me when I’m wrong – Lion’s Law, Faction-S and Falcata. Also the NY Hounds (The Royal Hounds) track “I Don’t Like You Anymore” and Concrete Elite’s alternate version of “Unbreakable Breed” have been available on respectively cassette and online before, but now available on vinyl for the very first time – fuck yeah!
Now a quick calculation will teach you that the remaining 15 tracks are either previously unreleased, brand new or soon to be released – though the latter is just an assumption – tracks by a whole bunch of killer bands! The list seems endless with Antagonizers ATL, The Welch Boys, Bonecrusher, Hard Evidence, Armada, 45 Adapters, Rebels Rule, The Young Ones, The Opposition, Brassknuckle Boys, The Take, Fuerza Bruta, Doug & The Slugz, The Prowlers and Knock Off, making it a long and hefty tracklist indeed. Now besides that I have my personal favorites (obviously), the overall quality of “Oi! This Is Streetpunk! 2020” and its contributions is top of the bill, making it a fairly brilliant compilation!
Therefor the reincarnation of the “Oi! This Is Streetpunk!” series is a comeback I hearty welcome back and so should you. Because with its two records, four sides, 20 killer bands/songs and 45 revolutions per minute this set is a real flip-fest from start to finish and an absolute must for fans of current-gen Oi! and streetpunk bands that is either available on 900 sets of black vinyl or 300 sets of ultra-clear vinyl with a black pinwheel!
