V/A – A Tribute To Oxymoron - Fuck The Tributes, Here’s Our Noize...

One of the best Oi!/street punk bands that ever emerged out of Germany – oh heck, from this planet – is without a doubt Oxymoron! I wouldn’t say it’s a fact, but when a whole generation of ‘weirdoz’ agrees, there must be some truth in it, right? Right! Therefor it was only a matter of time for a proper tribute to pop up, but finally – after a couple of years in the works – it arrived and it turned out to be a pretty proper tribute indeed!

 

With a total of 17 bands – ranging from contemporaries such as Bonecrusher and Violent Society, to ‘newer’ bands such as Arch Rivals, DDC, Bad Engrish, Out Of Order, Legion 76, Hard Evidence, The Hardknocks, Thunder And Glory, Lion’s Law and Sniper 66 – this tribute turned into a hefty compilation, clocking well over 50 minutes! Including all-time fan favorites such as “Get A Gun”, “Dead End Generation”, “Weirdoz”, “Bored & Violent”, “Insane”, “Crisis Identity”, “Life’s A Bitch”, “We Rule O.K.” and so on, making it a joy of recognition for fans worldwide!

 

Now the Oxy’s were a class of their own, resulting into that none of the bands included on this tribute can touch the originals, no matter how good the cover is. Some bands come close though, with Bad Co. Project coming in the closest – obviously. Despite this, “Fuck The Tribures, Here’s Our Noize...” is still an excellent and might I add, well deserved tribute to one of the greatest street punk bands of my generation!

 

So if you’re a fan of Oxymoron, this new generation of Oi! bands that is mainly featured on this tribute or even better – both! Then pick this compilation up, you won’t be disappointed! I’m only missing that crazy black metal cover of “Crisis Identity” by Mirkwood though, should have been included as a bonus-track...
