V/A – Clockwork Street Anthems Vol. 1
Clockwork Punk / Street Rock Music
It would be corny to do this review completely in A Clockwork Orange’s style, so I won’t. But fact is that the first edition of Clockwork Punk’s and Street Rock Music’s compilation “Clockwork Street Anthems” is – indeed – full of ultra-violence, provided by various droogs and droogettes from all over the globe!
Featured bands on the first “Clockwork Street Anthems” are, in order of appearance, Cervelli Stanki (Italy), The Warriors (UK), Self Revolution (Indonesia), The Droogettes (USA), Clockwork Boys (Portugal), The Sideburns (Russia) and last, but not least, Rhythm ‘N’ Boots (France). Selected on imagery, lyrical content or a combination of both, all seven bands dive into the dystopian world of Anthony Burgess one way or another – with each band delivering one kick in the yarbles.
With the exception of The Warriors’ “Bowler Hats And Baseball Bats” and Self Revolution’s “King Of Suck”, I believe the remaining five songs are either brand new or unreleased – probably a combination of both – with simply not a bad song on here! Even a band I was a bit hard on in the past, The Droogettes, stand their ground on this cassette, though the last three bands on here: Clockwork Boys, The Sideburns and Rhythm ‘N’ Boots are absolutely killing it by providing the best tracks on this compilation.
You got a tape-deck? You like A Clockwork Orange (book, film or both)? You’re into Oi! music? Then get this limited cassette (100 copies made) as soon as possible! It’s a real… oh here it comes… horrorshow!
