V/A – For Family And Flag Vol. 1

Pirates Press Records

Hundred releases after the hefty, triple LP compilation-set “One Family One Flag” – which celebrated Pirates Press Records’ 200th release – the label is back with a brand new, yet familiar, compilation series - “For Family And Flag”! With the intention to release albums in this series on a more regular basis, the label just released its first volume and it’s stacked with some killer tunes, both old and new!

Meant to give you an idea of what’s going on and coming out on Pirates Press Records, it’s no surprise that a good portion of this compilation is filled with songs previously released on regular singles, EP’s and albums. The ‘old’ tracks so to say. Fact is of course that these songs were released in either 2019 or 2020, so there’s still a good change you never heard some of these songs before. In my case I was still unfamiliar with the contributions of Korey Kingston’s Shuffle & Bang, The Slackers, The Bar Stool Preachers and Seized Up, while you might have heard the contributions of The Drowns, Charger, Noi!se, Subhumans or Lion’s Law a dozen of times already!

Luckily there’s also room for plenty of previously unreleased, new and upcoming music, thanks to the likes of Cock Sparrer, Bishops Green, 45 Adapters, Antagonizers ATL (though their track “Black Clouds” was already released as one of those promotional flexis, advertised as a track off their upcoming new album “Kings”) and Lenny Lashley’s Gang Of One! Certainly not the least of names so to say and I surely hope that all of these tracks will be included on ‘regular’ releases to come, simply because I’d love to hear a new EP or LP by any of them!

Released fairly cheap on either vinyl or CD, Pirates Press Records showcases what they’ve been up to for the past year and the exciting new releases that are assumingly around the corner. With that being said, it would also do the series good if one or two tracks remain exclusive to the compilation they’re on. Check it out!
